Photocatalytic applications in belgium, purifying the air through a double layered concrete pavement

This paper first describes the principle of photocatalytic materials through the results of the research project(s). Subsequently, the application at the industrial zone in Wijnegem (2011) is described. In the latter, special attention is given to the application of the double layered concrete. By using this configuration, the TiO2 can be added to the top layer, while the bottom layer is made of recycled concrete aggregates in order to reduce the ecological impact.
